Council-owned £700k Hatch End farm being bought by tenant
GRIMS Dyke Farm, which was put up for sale for £700,000 by Harrow Council in December, looks likely to be bought by its current tenant by the end of this month.
The 75-acre farm in Old Redding, Harrow Weald - on the border of Harrow and Hertfordshire - will continue to be used for agricultural purposes.
It was being sold on the council's behalf by St Albans-based commercial property experts Strutt and Parker.
Marketed as a "rare investment opportunity within the M25", the plot came with a detached three-bedroom farmhouse cottage called New Lodge - of which residence is restricted to people who work the land - along with a fire damaged Dutch barn, a fire damaged storage barn, a brick and timber range, a traditional timber granary on stilts, and a "dilapidated" cart lodge barn.
The land is designated as pasture land and has been used for livestock grazing and mowing.
Harrow Council's cabinet committee agreed to dispose of the land in November 2007.
