A ROAD that served as the prototype of Metro-land - the expansion of commuter suburbs in north-west London and the Home Counties - has been given special planning protection to preserve its properties.
The extension of Tookes Hill Conservation Area to include more than a hundred homes in Cecil Park means the street, constructed by Metropolitan Railway from 1902 onwards, should be spared from inappropriate and unsympathetic development along with other new additions Marsh Road and The Chase.

A NUMBER of seasonal events being hosted across the borough in the run up to Christmas.
On Wednesday December 23, the Grim's Dyke Opera Chorus and the Cassiobury Choir will join to sing carols at Grim's Dyke Hotel in Old Redding, Harrow Weald, before an audience of over 100 people, with all the proceeds going to the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.
