Hatch End to get new community centre and all-weather pitch after positive council vote

FAMILIES living in Hatch End will benefit from a new community centre and all-weather sports pitch after councillors approved the necessary plans.
Harrow Council's planning committee granted permission for the proposal from Watford FC Community Sports and Education Trust in which the existing Cedars
Youth Centre in Chicheley Gardens will be demolished and replaced with a two-storey multi-use building and a multi-purpose football field.

Teenagers and organisers involved in events and classes at the existing centre had signed a petition supporting the proposals, under which some of Cedars Open Space swallowed up by the larger footprint of the new complex.
Inside the centre will be an arts and crafts room, a music and drama room incorporating a separate recording studio, a computer suite, a gym, a café that looks out over the outdoor play area, changing rooms, a sports hall, a kitchen, a climbing wall, two meeting rooms and administration offices.
Run by the trust, two workstations will be able to be used by visiting police officers and local residents associations will be given workspace too.
The neighbouring enclosed synthetic pitch, meanwhile, will be used for the trust's Kickz soccer courses and to host physical education lessons from local schools.
Members of the public will have free access between 3pm and 6pm on weekdays and 1pm and 5pm at weekends, and 14 hours a week will be set aside for private hire.
Watford FC envisaged holding eight football events at the centre each year that are currently hosted at Roger Bannister Sports Centre in Uxbridge Road, Hatch End.
