Gambling machine web.jpgA man has been ordered to pay a total of £340 in fines and compensation after he admitted lashing out at two gaming machines.

Arben Lecini, of Cannon Lane, damaged machines in William Hill and Tote Sport bookmakers in Field End Road, Eastcote.

The incidents occurred on February 13 and December 3 respectively, Uxbridge Magistrates' Court heard on February 21.

As well as the fines, Lecini was given an electronic tag to wear during a three-month curfew period when he must stay at home every night, and was banned from any London gambling premises for one year.

IMPROVEMENTS have been reported on the Churchill Place Estate in Harrow after a
Tenants and Residents' Association was formed.
The group was set up after neighbours approached Harrow Council's resident involvement staff for help over a number of outstanding issues.

Jack King web.jpgA SPEEDING teenage driver who killed his front seat passenger, a 17-year-old from Pinner, in a "reckless" car crash has been jailed for five years.

Alex Jaggs, 19, of Eastcote Road, Ruislip, lost control of his Ford Fiesta Zetec and smashed into a tree in Elm Avenue, Eastcote, while showing off in front his friends.

EVERY road in Hatch End ward now has a Neighbourhood Champion - locals trained to report low-level nuisance and problems to the authorities and to distribute useful information from them.
It is the second area to reach this achievement after Wealdstone last month became the first of the 21 wards in the borough of Harrow where each street had a person designated to be the 'eyes and ears' of the council and the police and to look out for their and their neighbours' best interests.

Sam Roman web.jpgPINNER has already gone down in pop music folklore as the birthplace and childhood residence of Sir Elton John, so it is with this tradition that a new male solo artist from the area is hoping to impress.

Sam Roman lives in Pinner Hill, at the top of Pinner Hill Road where Elton, or Reginald Dwight as he was then known, was born and lived until the age of six.

Ashley Coles web.jpgA SINGLE mother from Pinner is facing homelessness as her home is demolished but neither her landlord, nor Harrow Council, has taken responsibility for her.

Ashley Coles lives in Mill Farm Close with her two young children and has been told to leave by October, with no reassurance of where to go.

A CHOIR for singers with mental health issues and their family, carers and friends has won an award for its efforts.
Harrow Community Choir - which was established in October 2009 by Margaret Carruthers and practises weekly at Harrow Arts Centre in Uxbridge Road, Hatch End -
received the gong from the Lemos and Crane RISE Awards (CORR) along with a £1,000 grant to develop and continue its work.
