A SELF-portrait painting called 'The Wreck' by India-born professional artist Shanti Patel, 50, of Graham Road, Harrow, is on show at the Kings Place Gallery in King's Cross until November 25.
The work was one of 180 of the more than 500 entries in to the Ruth Borchard Self-Portrait Competition chosen to go on display at the post-contest exhibition, and has been bought up by the Ruth Borchard Collection.

TRAFFIC in Stanmore was disrupted during rush hour this morning due to a burst water pipe.

The A409 Brookshill is closed in both directions between Harrow Weald and the Clamp Hill junction after the incident was reported to police shortly after 8am this morning.

Officers are assisting with traffic diversions and council workers have fixed the problem, which happened just outside Harrow Weald College, but the road remains closed.
Police are hoping to re-open the road before midday today.

hullyer.jpgAN APPEAL for £1m was launched last week to fund the restoration of Pinner Parish Church.

More than 130 people turned out to show their support for the 14th Century church in Church Lane on Thursday, including Pinner MP Nick Hurd.

They were driving an uninsured car on Wednesday October 12, which the police stopped in Waverley Gardens, Northwood.

A SPEEDING driver jailed for five years for killing a Pinner teenager in a car crash has lost his appeal against the sentence.

Former Northwood School pupil Jack King, 17, died after the car he was a passenger in ploughed into a tree in Elm Avenue, in Pinner, in May last year.

A WOMAN who drove her car into a mother-of-one on a pedestrian crossing has been fined £500 and banned from driving by Brent magistrates.

Pia Jessika Hessellund Ovesen failed to stop on Uxbridge Road, Pinner, in July and caused substantial injuries to Emma Berg, a 32-year-old mother.

Although the owner of the building, Stewart Braddock, lodged an application with Harrow council for a change of use for the historic pub, the manager Paul McEvoy said business at the pub is better than ever.

pinnerhill.jpgRELIEVED community groups across the borough have restarted classes and clubs after a council U-turn over rent.

In July this year Harrow council informed tenant's and resident's associations, which cover council estates, that they would no longer be able to use the community halls for free and would be charged rent.

TWO schools and an inconspicuous looking semi-detached house in Pinner could become Hollywood stars as its most famous resident is set to film his biopic.

Sir Elton John grew up as Reginald Dwight in a house on Pinner Hill Road and attended Pinner Wood Junior School, Reddiford School and what was Pinner County Grammar School, now Heathfield School, and now plans to make a film of his life.
