Pinn Medical Centre divides opinion
THE report released by NHS Harrow which stated that the Pinn Medical Centre was coping well with demand has received criticism from patients and the council.
It was reviewed at a health and social care scrutiny sub-committee on October 24 but was not considered to be detailed enough by some members.
Javina Seghal, NHS Brent and Harrow, presented the report and a member claimed it did not give enough detail about the progress of the surgery.
The Pinn Medical Centre was put under extra pressure when the Village Surgery, Barrow Point Avenue, closed down in April 2010 and it has taken on more than 5000 new patients in that time.
Brian Cox, 75, of Meadow Road, has been a patient at the Pinn Medical Centre for more than 20 years and is concerned about the length of time it can take a patient to get an appointment with their family doctor.
He said: " "The problem is two-fold. Your own doctor is not available and you have to wait up to two weeks for an appointment with him or her. It puts the family doctor relationship at risk.
"The other issue is that repeat prescriptions are not well organised and take longer than necessary. It has definitely got worse recently, I would say this is the worst it has been."
In response to the criticism at the meeting Rob Larkman, chief executive of NHS Brent and Harrow, said he would provide updates to the committee every six months on the increased demand on the surgery.
What are your views on the surgery? Does it cope well or is it over-stretched?
