Passengers escape burning bus in Pinner
THE top deck of a bus in Pinner went up in flames as it travelled along Eastcote Road.
Passengers were evacuated from the burning vehicle and the driver was treated for smoke inhalation and taken to Northwick Park hospital.
Fire-fighters were called at just after 12.30pm and one fire engine and five firefighters from Northolt station attended the incident.
The blaze was out before 1pm and investigators are looking in to the cause of the fire.
The bus is operated by Metroline, who the Observer has contacted for a statement.
Mike Weston, Director of Operations for London Buses, said: "At around 12:30 this afternoon (Thursday 2 February) we received reports of a fire on board a route H12 double deck bus on Eastcote Road at the junction with Cannon Lane, in Pinner. The bus was in service at the time of the incident. The driver was able to quickly evacuate passengers and none were injured. We believe the fire, that occurred at the rear of the upper deck, was started maliciously and the incident will be investigated by the police."
The police confirmed there have been no arrests so far.
