The George stands firm

georgepub.jpgTHE manager of the King George IV pub in Pinner has spoken out against plans to turn the building into offices and flats.

Although the owner of the building, Stewart Braddock, lodged an application with Harrow council for a change of use for the historic pub, the manager Paul McEvoy said business at the pub is better than ever.

george.jpgPUB-GOERS in Pinner are concerned a planning application lodged by the George pub, Marsh Road, would lead to the closure of yet another historic village drinking house.

Luke Moxon, 25, lives in Cannon Lane and visits the nearby pub regularly. He said: "There would be no other place to watch the football in Pinner, after the Hand in
Hand and the Victory closed there's really no where else. It's always busy, especially when there's football on and there is a good mix of people in there. I would definitely object to the plans, I would and I think the community would, it's wrong they are building so many flats and getting rid of social places."

barn.jpgNEIGHBOURS have successfully petitioned to amend an application for the restoration of the last surviving building of a medieval estate in Pinner.

Residents of Hereford Gardens collected 100 signatures objecting plans for the Cannon Farm Barn, Hereford Gardens, to be turned into a Montessori Nursery.
