A FLOOD warning was issued for the River Pinn and Woodridings Stream in the village last night.

The Environment Agency increased the alert level for the river but it is believed that the water levels will reach their peak by Tuesday (May 1) afternoon.

Bosses at art material manufacturer ColArt Group requested from Harrow Council on Tuesday details of what they need to cover in an environmental impact assessment accompanying any future planning application to redevelop its redundant former factory in Whitefriars Avenue.
The firm plans include building 198 houses and flats.

TRAFFIC in Stanmore was disrupted during rush hour this morning due to a burst water pipe.

The A409 Brookshill is closed in both directions between Harrow Weald and the Clamp Hill junction after the incident was reported to police shortly after 8am this morning.

Officers are assisting with traffic diversions and council workers have fixed the problem, which happened just outside Harrow Weald College, but the road remains closed.
Police are hoping to re-open the road before midday today.

NINE new CCTV cameras could be installed at Hatch End railway station in Uxbridge Road if Harrow Council approves London Overground's plans.
Listed building consent is being sought for four cameras in the ticket hall, five external cameras, new light fittings, new speakers, changes to signage and a customer information system.

MOTORISTS are experiencing delays this morning in Uxbridge Road in Harrow Weald due to a burst water main.
The traffic is slow both eastbound and westbound following the 7am leak between the road's junction with Brookshill and Boxtree Road.

LEARN about French glass artist Rene Lalique and his Art Noveau jewellery through a talk to be given by jeweller David Callaghan.
The Frenchman, who lived between 1860 and 1945, is the subject of the free lecture organised by Harrow National Trust Association.
Lalique's designs became acclaimed after making jewels for Sarah Bernhardt and then exhibiting at the great Paris exhibitions of 1894 and 1900 and in turn he attracted the attention of Calouste Gulbenkian, who purchased over 150 major items of jewellery from him, of which many are now exhibited in the Portuguese capital Lisbon.
From 1900 onwards he concentrated on works in glass and Lalique glass is still made today to his original designs and patterns.

James Whybrow web.jpgTHE parents of an 18-year-old car crash victim from Pinner have joined a campaign for traffic calming measures on the road where he was killed.

Former Haydon School pupil James Whybrow died on May 29 when the car he was a passenger in was involved in a head-on collision in Cuckoo Hill, which turns off High Road, Eastcote, and runs into Pinner.
